IMPORTANT INFORMATION
megaSun follows all NZ government, Ministry of Health, Auckland Public Health Det and Auckland District Health Board regulations, standards, and guidelines for Solaria (indoor tanning).
We do not allow anyone under the age of 18 to tan.
People with skin types 0 and 1 (extremely fair/white skins), who can’t achieve a tan, should avoid tanning both indoors and out. These skin types will not be able to use our sunbeds.
New clients must complete and sign a MoH indoor tanning consent form agreeing to adhere to the rules and regulations in the document, before a first sunbed.
A copy of your own signed consent form can be provided upon request when the consultation is complete. Forms are kept for 2 years.
Clients must wear megaSun approved UV protective eyewear throughout every tanning session.
NZ MoH Indoor Tanning Regulations do not allow indoor tanning more often than every 48 hours and advise that outdoor tanning should not be more frequent than every 48 hours.
Exposure to UV radiation from sunshine or sunbeds, may contribute to skin aging and could potentially increase a risk of skin cancer. Repeated exposure may increase that risk.
It is not advisable to use a sunbed and tan outdoors on the same day.
Sunburnt skin can result in long term damage. Tanning will be delayed, as megaSun does not put anyone with sunburnt skin on the beds.
Tanning is a gradual process. It is possible to speed up the process and results, by using scientifically proven tan accelerating products.
Every skin tans at a different rate; it is impossible to predict how quickly a person will tan.
There is a limit as to how dark skin can tan. This means that no matter how good sunbeds and solar cosmetics are, each skin has its own tanning limit.
Lighter skin tones may take several sessions before melanocytes (cells that create a tan), reach the skin’s surface, and reveal their colour change.
The MoH recommend no more than 3 sessions per week and 60 sessions annually.
Building a tan gradually and following a megaSun personalised programme, is the safest and most effective way to achieve the best possible tan, based on individual skin type.
