New, important and relevant to sun, skin, and tanning "Sunshine vitamin" without sun? Dietary supplement is not enough!

For several years scientists worldwide has warned of the consequences of the dramatic part of vitamin D deficiency. One of the first European countries Finland, responded in 2003; milk, milk products and margarine were standardised with the addition of vitamin D. A government commissioned study at the University of Turku with 142 girls from 12 to 18 years merely registered a minimal improvement the vitamin D levels in the blood (serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D) one year after the introduction of the measure, despite the clear increased intake of vitamin D through the diet.

Conclusion: Even among young people - and especially in the winter months - a sufficient supply of vitamin D using dietary supplements will not be achieved. It is not yet considered that vitamin D ‘'fed'' to the body is "processed" differently and is sometimes different and less effective than vitamin D serum, produced by the ultraviolet irradiation of the skin. The body forms 80 -- 90% of active vitamin D by this method.

The study shows once again that an, vitamin D deficiency epidemic without the UV rays of the sun is likely. Vitamin D deficiency in The presence of UV light, whether natural or artificial will not be possible.
A simultaneously released study in Ireland of healthy adults from the city of Dublin found similar conclusions. 80% of the subjects in the Irish winter of vitamin D deficiency suffered, the intake of vitamin D-containing preparations no significant difference in the education "active" vitamin D serum (25 (OH) D) in the blood.
